For the final requirements for the self directed module, I was required to exhibit my work in a professional capacity. The exhibition takes place between the 27th April - 25th May.
For the exhibition for our final project for the self directed module, I will be exhibiting my work at the Waterside Arts gallery along with all other students of the course. The communications between our course group and the curator were conducted via email, we had one student be the point of contact however, all members of the group were consistently involved. During this process, I had to adapt to giving her creative control for the exhibition.
The above image is a publication of our exhibition on the Waterside Arts Gallery website. It explains the theme of all photographers' work with an artist statement. Along with the name of all artists, the opening and closing dates, the opening and closing times and the address of the gallery. This page classes as a group publication, as well as the exhibition it self.
I am presenting 6 images in A2 size. I ordered the prints from DS Colour Labs as I have used this service before and had had good results. When ordering the prints, I ordered 2 copies of each print so I had the option to replace one if any issues occurred when framing. I had to slightly trim each print to fit in each frame due to them needing trimming from DS Colour Labs.
Final Exhibited Work:
When reflecting on my exhibited work, there is a few aspects that I wished I had considered before presenting my work. One of my concerns is that the last image (on the right) is not cropped therefore, is not in a consistent theme with the rest of the images. My other issue is that I feel that the boarder on frames are too thin. This issue became more apparent when seeing the work presented along side all other students work. I discussed this with the curator, Michelle, whose feedback was the same as what I considered upon reflection. This is good knowledge to have when exhibiting future work. Waterside have issued a press release so that local press can come to see the exhibition.
Exhibition Summary & Artist Statements:
This exhibition is the second one that I have done. My previous exhibition took place at the Stockport War Memorial Gallery. The project that was submitted was for the previous academic year for the collaborative photography module. The work focused on the members of the Stockport veterans.
