During a session of the professional identity module we were asked to take environmental portraits as a test shoot. This was more of an insightful task for me as environmental portraits connect to my self directed module. As my shoot went on, I did not plan anything and let my ideas come as I was exploring. I wanted to try to have an abstract approach to the portraits. Using the environment to create a unique framing for the subject.
The above images were shot based on experimenting with positioning the subject between the posts. When reflecting on this shoot, I feel that the first image on the left works best out of the three. This is because of the positioning of the subjects within the posts, as well as having a wider angle that is not straight on. In retrospect, I wish I had shot a version of this image closer to the subject.
When reflecting on this work, I feel that it is a development of ideas. The clique "practice makes perfect" is true to a certain extent.
